GDRFA Dubai showcases 9 innovative digital projects at GITEX 2022

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) is participating in the 42 edition of GITEX Global which will be held at the Dubai World Trade Center from October 10 to 14, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

 

The largest Tech event will bring together over 4,500 companies, including 1400 new exhibitors from across the world to showcase the latest digital technology trends, with an expected attendance of more than 100,000 visitors from 170 countries.

 

His Excellency Major General Mohamed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) said that the Directorate is keen to take part in GITEX every year as part of their efforts to highlight the vital role of digital technology in improving the quality of life, noting that GDRFA committed itself to provide state-of-the-art technology-driven services to achieve excellence in the workplace.

 

For his part, Captain Khalid Ahmad bin Mediya Al Falasi, Assistant Director General of Smart Services Sector at GDRFA-Dubai said that the Directorate will be showcasing this year 9 innovative projects and exploring opportunities for new strategic partnerships to enhance the workplace. The Directorate will be sharing its best practices and innovative digital initiatives which contributed to achieve a quantum leap in providing world-class services while learning from the experience of other leaders. 

 

The GDRFA Dubai will display at their stand S1-C, Sheikh Saeed Hall, its proactive services projects, including the ‘GDRFA Data’ which uses 3D face recognition and biometrics to identify individuals. All automated transactions are linked to other authorities’ system to offer a better experience for passengers. Among other innovative projects showcased at GITEX is “Bid Data”, a collaboration between GDRFA and SAS Analytics. The project combines data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to identify violators before entering the country, including holders of fake passports or any other violations while the ‘Customer Service Corner’ is the new GDRFA mobile application which provides visitors access to the website, smart travel service, Nationality & passport services among others.

 

The ‘Staff Services Corner’ is equipped with a screen to display the ‘Happiness Services Package’ offered to employees and customers such as the ‘Happiness Card’, ‘the Happiness App’, the ‘Happiness Programme with Du Telecommunications’, and the ‘Kafa’ati’-Virtual Assistant’, a project designed to provide employees with smart services including AI Chatbots to answer their questions.

 

The "Mobile Ports Station" project introduces the audience to the future improvements in the entry and exit procedures, including a mobile kiosk and tablet device to facilitate entry and exit procedures with aims to offer passengers better services and improve the quality of their life.

 

For the first time, the Directorate has collaborated with Digital UAE (Digital Government) to showcase the GDRFA-Dubai Smart Travel App while the Dubai Digital Authority (DDA) will offer a presentation about the Directorate’s digital services and efforts to accelerate digital transformation in the country.

 

GITEX Global 2022 gathers tech giants, government and private organisations and tech startups specialised in 16 various sectors to share perspectives and knowledge and discuss the latest innovative technologies.
