Dubai Naturalization and Residency Department (DNRD) recorded the highest number of travellers entering and exiting through its passport control department at Dubai International Airport (DIA) during the National Day and Eid Al Adha holidays earlier in December. On the 5th of December, over 81,607 travellers moved in and out of the country through DNRD’s passport control department based at the DIA. The previous record was registered by the DNRD in August 2008 and reached 76,863. The total number of travellers via DIA during the holiday period (2-11 December) reached 626,572. DNRD’s key land entry point at Hatta crossing with Oman also witnessed an exceptionally busy period with 45,430 transactions finalised during the holidays. In fact, a new record was set at Hatta with over 7,600 travellers crossing the borders on December 9 alone. Overall transactions processed successfully at the DNRD’s headquarters and external branches reached 154,094 during same period from 2-11 December as illustrated in the table below.
