Immigration, Prosecution e-link to go live in early 2009

Information sharing between the Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD) and Public Prosecution will be made easier and more secure when an electronic link between them goes live in early 2009, a senior immigration official said on Monday. The unified electronic data will include case details and information about the people involved in them. The announcement came after a meeting held between Maj. Gen. Mohammad Ahmad Al Merri, Director of DNRD, and Essam Eisa Al Humaidan, Dubai Attorney General and chairman of the Dubai Judicial Institute. Al Merri, said: “The electronic connection between DNRD and Public Prosecution is very helpful to protect the secret document and papers which we used to deal with manually.” This initiative will facilitate swifter communication and procedures between the two government entities. He said: “The e-connection will be a useful tool which speed up data exchange between the two departments and allow for a swift action on (detention and deportation) cases.” A special committee will supervise the operation of the link. Capt. Khalid Nasser, assistant director of the IT section at DNRD, and Abdullah Saqer, the Head of IT Department at Public Prosecution, were appointed as the committee members.
