GDRFA marks International Day for Older Persons with special ceremony for senior citizens

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai, in partnership with Thukher Social Club, has organized a special event to mark the International Day for Older Persons, in a heart-warming display of community dedication and care for senior citizens.

The event, held on a luxurious ship, aimed to provide senior citizens with a memorable marine experience while also introducing them to essential services like visual communication.

The celebration was filled with entertainment and interactive activities that significantly uplifted the participants' spirits, spreading smiles and joy all around. The elderly attendees were treated to a scenic boat trip and received symbolic gifts, which they embraced with wide smiles, expressing their heartfelt gratitude to GDRFA for this generous gesture.

One of the highlights of the event was the introduction of the visual communication service, a key initiative by GDRFA. This service is designed to streamline access to essential services for all customers, including senior citizens, by providing them with user-friendly tools for interacting with the General Directorate.

HE  Brigadier General Hussein Ibrahim, Assistant Director General of the Institutional Support Sector, emphasized the importance of creating a nurturing environment for senior citizens that reflects the community's commitment to their well-being and welfare. He underscored the esteemed status of senior citizens and the elderly in the UAE, noting that the country, under wise leadership, has become a global leader in providing care and support to this demographic. He also highlighted the invaluable role played by seniors in shaping society and passing down their wisdom and experiences to younger generations.
