Cooperation between the GDRFA-D and Dubai Government Workshop to promote institutional excellence

Within the framework of joint efforts to improve government performance, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai and the Dubai Government Workshop (DGW) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to activate joint cooperation in the field of strategy and institutional excellence. The partnership will open up communication channels between the two parties and closely examine the best supportive experiences to develop performances. Under the terms of the agreement, the two parties will organize specialized training and qualification workshops to optimize the capabilities and skills of employees in the field of institutional excellence. The agreement was signed by His Excellency Major General Mohamed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA Dubai; and His Excellency Fahad Ahmed Al Raisi, Executive Director of the Dubai Government Workshop; in the presence of Major General Awad Al Oweim, the Assistant General Manager of the Human and Financial Resources Sector; Brigadier Dr. Ali Ajif, Legal Adviser at GDRFA; Brigadier General Hussain Ibrahim, Assistant General Manager for Corporate Support Sector; Brigadier Khalaf Al Ghaith, Assistant Director General of follow-up sector of violators and foreigners in GDRFA Dubai; and Colonel Abdull Samad Hussein, Deputy Assistant General Director for leadership and Future Affaires. From the DGW side, Khaled Ahmed Al Doubi, Director of Institutional Support; and Aqeel Mustafa Al Janahi, Director of the Engineering Maintenance Department; and Abdullah Al Muhairi, Director of the Strategy Institutional Excellence Office attended the ceremony, apart from other officials from both sides. His Excellency Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri highlighted the importance of consolidating efforts and facilitating channels for the exchange of expertise and experiences regarding the evaluation and arbitration mechanisms of internal awards, in order to raise the level of efficiency of government work and improve the quality of services to achieve customer happiness. His Excellency Al Marri said: “We are delighted to enter this constructive partnership with Dubai Government Workshop to explore new prospects to improve government performance and raise it to the highest levels of excellence, in line with Dubai’s and the UAE’s approach. It follows the insightful vision of our wise leadership in evaluating and developing government work and improving its efficiency and enhancing services delivery in line with the aspirations of the customers as they are a top priority for us. We strive to work closely with the Workshop and all government agencies to accelerate the pace of development and strengthen customer confidence in our services, which we are committed to develop periodically according to advanced mechanisms for evaluation and improvement.” His Excellency Major General Al Marri added that the rapid changes taking place in the UAE call for the intensification of joint efforts with other government institutions and agencies to develop methodologies that adopt excellence in its work’s systems. Modern technology should be exploited to be prepared for the next fifty years and address requirements of the next stage. He pointed out that the GDRFA is keen to achieve leadership and raise the level of institutional performance to reach the highest levels of government excellence and strive to become a role model in the country and overseas. His Excellency Fahd Ahmed Al Raisi, Executive Director of the Dubai Government Workshop, explained that the cooperation agreement with GDRFA is paving the way for building a solid partnership with regard to promoting evaluation mechanisms and accelerate the pace of development, in order to improve the quality of government services to match the best globally. He underlined DGW’s commitment to sharing best practices and most successful experiences with strategic partners in the public sector, especially GDRFA, within the framework of joint efforts to translate the objectives of the Dubai Plan 2021. Al Raisi added: “We look forward, through this bilateral cooperation, to unify our capabilities to drive institutional excellence, by updating evaluation mechanisms and working according to government best practices, in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Thus, we will reach the highest levels of excellence to provide services in a way that establishes the role of the Dubai government as an example in serving the people and promoting their well-being and prosperity.”
