GDRFA wraps up five days of fantastic participation at GITEX 2022

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA)- Dubai today concluded five days of fantastic participation in the 42nd edition of GITEX 2022, the largest technology event in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, the mega event has taken place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from October 10 to 14.

Throughout the event’s five days, the GDRFA platform attracted more than 10,000 visitors, including VIPs and senior officials who were keen to learn about the innovative solutions, initiatives, and projects showcased.

On the last day of the global exhibition, the GDRFA platform was visited by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, and H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance.

Their Highnesses were received by Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA, and Major General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor, Deputy Director General of GDRFA. During their visit, Sheikh Hamdan and Sheikh Maktoum were briefed on the latest techniques and innovative solutions that were being showcased.

Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al Marri stressed that GDRFA Dubai is keen to take part in every new edition of GITEX, describing it as the best and largest technological platform showcasing the latest technologies developed to shape the future and provide smart solutions benefiting the mankind. Most importantly, the event is again enhancing Dubai's position as a leading regional and global hub for modern technologies.

"During the exhibition, we have showcased the newest technologies, initiatives, and smart programs tailored to build an integrated and comprehensive digital future that would promote the well-being, leadership, and sustainability of societies. A future that our wise leadership is already making to assure the happiness of the UAE people, and we are following in their footsteps," Al Marri added.

“The massive event has come out with great results thanks to bringing together several decision makers and a number of experts and specialists in technical affairs who had the opportunity to meet, exchange visions, and come up with the best practices in the digital sector. Through this exhibition, the UAE is indeed paving the way for the region's future in the digital transformation sector,” Al Marri noted.

This year’s edition has seen the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs showcasing nine innovative projects including the "GDRFA Data" project, which relies on biometric data, in addition to the "Customer Services Corner" project, the GDRFA App, the visitor's website, smart travel service, citizenship and passport services, and others.
