Non-Commissioned Officers: terms and conditions
- The applicant must be a citizen of the United Arab Emirates.
- The applicant must be of good conduct and sound reputation.
- The applicant must hold the academic qualification required under the announcement or the staffing need.
- The applicant must meet the age requirements specified for the track.
- Minimum height of 165 cm for males and 155 cm for females, with height proportionate to weight, and compliance with the approved physical fitness requirements.
- Male applicants must have completed the National Service requirements in accordance with the approved conditions.
- The applicant must be medically and physically fit and must pass the prescribed medical examination.
- The applicant must pass the prescribed tests, assessments and personal interview.
- The applicant must provide any additional requirements or documents specified by the Department according to the nature of the need.
- Acceptance is subject to competitive selection and the availability of approved needs and vacancies.

Cadet Officers: terms and conditions
- The applicant must be a citizen of the United Arab Emirates.
- The applicant must hold a secondary school certificate with a minimum average of 75%.
- No more than two years may have elapsed since obtaining the secondary school certificate.
- Secondary school certificates issued outside the UAE, or from a foreign curriculum within the UAE, must be equated in accordance with the approved requirements.
- A minimum of 70% in the Arabic language subject in the secondary school certificate.
- A minimum IELTS Academic score of 5.0 or a minimum TOEFL score of 500.
- Age must not be less than 17 years and not more than 21 years.
- Minimum height of 165 cm for males and 155 cm for females, with height proportionate to weight.
- The applicant must be of good conduct and sound reputation.
- Male applicants must have completed the National Service requirements in accordance with the approved conditions.
- The applicant must be medically and physically fit and must pass the prescribed medical examination.
- The applicant must successfully pass the tests, assessments and personal interview.
- The applicant must provide any additional requirements specified by the Department.
- Final acceptance is subject to competitive selection and the availability of approved seats and needs.

University-Qualified Officers: terms and conditions
- The applicant must be a citizen of the United Arab Emirates.
- The applicant must hold a bachelor's degree or the required university qualification from a recognised educational institution.
- The field of specialisation must be among the specialisations required under the approved needs.
- The academic qualification must be equated if issued outside the UAE or by an institution requiring equivalency.
- The applicant must meet the academic grade point requirement for the track, if any.
- The applicant must meet the age requirement specified in the announcement or programme.
- The applicant must be of good conduct and sound reputation.
- Male applicants must have completed the National Service requirements in accordance with the approved conditions.
- The applicant must meet the approved height, weight and physical fitness requirements for the track.
- The applicant must be medically and physically fit and must pass the prescribed medical examination.
- The applicant must pass the tests, assessments and personal interview.
- The applicant must meet any professional or language requirements determined according to the specialisation and the staffing need.
- Acceptance is subject to competitive selection and the availability of approved needs, vacancies and required specialisations.

- The applicant must meet the practical experience requirements for the position, if any.
- The applicant must hold any professional licences or certificates required by the nature of the position, if any.
- The applicant must pass the prescribed assessments, tests and personal interview.
- The applicant must meet the medical fitness requirements for the position where required.
- The applicant must submit the required documents and records, which are subject to verification.
- Nomination is subject to competitive selection among applicants based on qualifications, experience, competencies and the requirements of the vacancy.
