The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai received a delegation from the UAE Internal Auditors Association, headed by His Excellency Abdul Qadir Obaid Ali, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Internal Auditors Association in the UAE. They were welcomed by His Excellency Major General Mohammed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA; Brigadier General Talal Al Shanqeti, Assistant Director General of the Airports Passport Affairs Sector; and Abdulrahman Ahmed Abdulrahman, financial advisor at GDRFA Dubai; in the presence of a number of officials from both sides. This visit was aimed at discussing ways of cooperation and strengthening relations between the two sides. During the meeting, GDRFA Dubai was honoured by the Association for its distinguished efforts and valuable contributions over the years in the field of internal auditing, governance and competitiveness. The Directorate has an internal auditing system that has expert professionals possessing high skills in accordance with the highest international standards, they noted. His Excellency Major General Mohammed Al Marri expressed his happiness at this honour and the efforts of the Internal Auditors Association in their journey of excellence and leadership and upgrading international standards for the career of internal auditing. He emphasized that it was the UAE’s vision for the future which enabled it to prepare in advance to adopt international best standards and practices in the field of internal auditing and implement them in the governmental and private work system. His Excellency Major General Al Marri affirmed that GDRFA Dubai is keen to extend bridges of cooperation with various government authorities and departments in the Emirate of Dubai with the aim of implementing joint initiatives, investing in national expertise and employing it in enhancing the quality of life. These efforts will also improve government performance, develop services and will effectively enhance the Directorate’s contributions to the UAE’s sustainable development, placing it at the top of governmental departments. His Excellency Al Marri added that the Internal Audit Department in the GDRFA Dubai provides assurance services and advisory activities in an objective and independent manner to improve services and business, reduce risks, ensure governance and add value to enable decision-makers in taking leadership decisions, which aims to ensure internal control procedures for the main financial and administrative processes and support executed by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai. It has been designed in a way that achieves effective risk management by which the public administration achieves its set goals with efficiency and effectiveness and high professional standards. In addition to the supreme leadership improving and developing the performance of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai. His Excellency Major General Mohammed Al Marri praised the efforts of the Internal Auditors Association in the UAE in the field of internal auditing, which has become a major part of the governmental and private work system. He noted their contributions to protecting the gains and driving the UAE’s sustainable development as well as developing and implementing the highest standards of quality and transparency and keeping them abreast of rapid changes in all fields. His Excellency Abdul Qadir Obaid Ali, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the UAE Internal Auditors Association, extended his sincere thanks and appreciation for the endless support provided by GDRFA Dubai to the profession in general and to the Association in particular as well as its distinguished efforts in adopting the best and latest global practices followed in this field. Noura Ayoub, Director of the Internal Audit Department, said that the UAE Internal Audit Association has made many achievements in the field of internal auditing, including the winning of an award for best practices in the field of auditing, governance and risks. In addition, it participates in the issuance of the quality assessment guide for the internal audit activity, which is in line with the professional framework for practising internal auditing, through membership in the Board of Directors of the Internal Auditors Association. He added that the Directorate has also participated in many conferences inside and outside the country and has signed a partnership agreement with the Internal Auditors Association. Participation in specialized conferences and courses in the field of internal auditing in order to gain professionalism in the field of internal auditing is a main focus under the terms of the agreement, he said. Noura Ayoub added that the GDRFA Dubai is working continuously to harness all necessary capabilities to overcome all challenges to continue the journey of excellence, and has proven its ability to overcome them despite the circumstances brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.
