The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai took part in the 15th Emirates Airline Festival of Literature 2023. The festival, held under the slogan “Old Friends," ran from February 5 to 6 and was organized by the Emirates Literature Foundation in partnership with Emirates Airlines and Dubai Culture and Arts Authority. It was held at the Mohammed bin Rashid Library in Dubai.

The GDRFA participated in one of the key sessions titled "Friendly Dubai, Past, Present, and Future" where H.E. Lieutenant General Mohamed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the GDRFA, expressed his gratitude to Emirates Airlines and the organizers of the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature.

Speaking on the occasion, Al Marri said, "Dubai is the pearl, a beautiful and vibrant horse that deserves to be cherished. If you don't take care of this horse, you won't be able to achieve greatness and victory. As Dubai grows, it shines even brighter, thanks to the support and care of its leader, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai."

He added that taking care of Dubai means respecting and valuing it as a city seen by the world as a unique place, and that it is everyone's responsibility to work sincerely and contribute to it.

Al Marri emphasized that the key to Dubai's success and uniqueness lies in its visionary and determined leadership, which is guided by the principles established by its founding leaders. He noted that Dubai is home to over 200 nationalities, drawn by its flexible laws and the quality of life it offers, including security, safety, economic opportunities, education, and healthcare.

He ended his speech by saying that great aspirations are not easily attained and reminded the audience that the UAE is a young nation with remarkable accomplishments, due to divine grace and its inspiring leadership that values human rights. He encouraged everyone to work diligently and persistently, despite the challenges ahead, because hope lies within them.
